North Miami Middle/High School

The Lady Warrior Soccer Team traveled to Rochester for their season opener on Saturday and defeated the Zebras 1-0. The match was tight from the opening kick, but North Miami found the back of the net near mid-point of the first half and held the score at 1-0 for the remainder of the game, earning their first shut-out victory of the season. After a few attempts at direct play, Laina Kling was able to play a ball wide to Sydney Lane at left wing, who then crossed the ball back toward center just off the 18 yard box where Senior Kinzy Storm was able to take a good first touch to set herself for a driving shot past the keeper for what would be the game winning goal. The Zebras made several good attempts at goal, but the Warrior defense and Senior goalkeeper, Brylee Edwards, held firm. Edwards finished the day with 11 saves, earning her first shut-out win of the season. The Lady Warriors will host the Eastern Comets on Thursday at 5:30pm for their home opener.
