The North Miami Warriors cross country teams made the trip to Manchester High School to compete in the Manchester Invitational this past weekend. This is a good opportunity for the team to race on the same course they will tackle during the IHSAA sectional meet. The middle school girls started out the meet with an early start time. Sydney Lane was the first finisher for the Lady Warriors, crossing the line with a time of 14:29. Taylor Starkey and Rivkah Miller were both recovering from sickness earlier in the week and finished with times of 17:27 and 18:08 respectively. In the high school races, freshman Leah Shafer took nearly two minutes off her personal record, finishing in 24:09 for the 5K distance. Junior Leah Miller also ran better this week with a time of 28:21. For the boys, sophomore Michael Miser had the best race of his career, finishing in 20:35, taking a minute of his previous best, while senior Ethan Johnston had a season-best time of 21:43. All in all, there were great performances on a beautiful morning! The Warriors will go to Bunker Hill on Saturday to race in the Maconaquah Invitational. Best of luck to all our runners!
