The Warrior cross country teams ran at the Maconaquah Invitational on Saturday, and the runners performed well on a hot and sunny morning! For the high school, senior Ethan Johnston completed the course in 22:34, while sophomore Michael Miser finished in 21:33. On the girls’ side, junior Leah Miller ran the course in 30:19, while freshman Leah Shafer ran a 25:07, finishing in 41st place out of 104 runners. Sixth grader Leland Cox ran his first cross country event, placing 51st out of 152 runners with a time of 12:47 for the 3-kilometer event. For the middle school girls, 7th grader Taylor Starkey (13:34) nearly finished with a top-25 award, finishing in 29th place out of 125 girls. Eighth grader Sydney Lane came in next for the Lady Warriors, placing 49th with a time of 14:11. Fellow eighth grader Lilly Burton had her best run of the season, completing the race in 14:27 placing 52nd overall and taking nearly 90 seconds off her previous best race! Rivkah Miller (8th grade) also ran well, finishing in 15:20 and placing 69th. The middle school teams will compete at Pioneer this Thursday, while the high schoolers will travel north to New Prairie High School to compete in one of the largest cross country meets in the Midwest.
