The North Miami cross country teams competed in the IHSAA sectional meet held at Manchester High School. Although we did not have enough runners to earn a team score, all four runners had their best runs of the season, and we had one runner advance to regionals next week! Freshman Leah Shafer earned her place in next week's regional meet by placing 38th overall (11th individual qualifier), finishing in a time of 22:20. This was one second shy of her lifetime personal record, but it was accomplished on a much more difficult course, making this her best racing effort of the year! Junior Leah Miller had a strong run, also having her best effort ever in a cross country race! Leah finished in 61st place overall and had a time of 26:15. She finishes her junior season in the best race she has ever run. Leah had a fantastic season and was a tremendous leader for our teams. Sophomore Michael Miser finished his season placing 57th overall and crossing the finish line in a time of 20:00, making this his best effort of the season. Finally senior Ethan Johnston ended his high school cross country career with his best effort ever on a cross country course, running a time of 20:39 and finishing in 63rd place. Leah Shafer will compete in the IHSAA regional meet held at Huntington University next Saturday. Race time is 10:30 AM. Best of luck, Leah!
