Boys basketball Saturday afternoon traveling to Southwood. JV stuck with the Knights for much of the first half. They scored the first two points, but Southwood scored the next 11 of the game. NM got it down to 2 again, but the Knights really came to life after that. They went on a 23-0 run between the second and third quarters to really open the game up. JV struggled shooting from the field, leading to a 41-13 loss. Varsity was shooting at a high percentage and getting defensive stops when needed. NM had a 4 point halftime lead with the largest being 5, so it wouldn’t be easy to keep the Knights away. Southwood came out and tied the game in two possessions. In a tied game with under a minute to go, Southwood got a couple of key turnovers. Southwood escaped with a 67-63 win over a Warriors team that battled hard all game.
